WPML translation for several widget titles not working

  • am having some trouble getting a few of the widget titles to translate using WPML. Most of them work using the string translation but “schedule an appointment”, social widget title, twitter latest tweets title.

All of them appear in the string translation page in the admin. I tried deleting them and readding them etc. But the language always stays the same on the front end.

    I asked on the WPML forums for some help and they told me this;

    2. If you are using custom widgets which are coded correctly and use apply_filters on widget_title and widget_text then again you should be able to translate both the title and content under the “WPML -> String Translation” screen.

Note: If you are coding your own widgets see: Texts in widgets needs to go through ‘apply_filters’: http://wpml.org/documentation/support/troubleshooting-string-localization/ 3. Sometimes the above options are not enough. In this case you may want to look into using Widget Logic see: http://wpml.org/2011/03/howto-display-different-widgets-per-language/
Is there anything you can tell me on how to fix this issue with WPML?

    Thanks for your help again!

    Hello Robert,

Thanks for sharing your details with me.

I went through your site and did some modifications to the widgets. Everything should be working fine with WPML now.

    Best,
    Juan.

Works great. Thank you for your help. Out of curiosity what was changed?

    Juanfra Aldasoro

We’ve changed the widget files, with the recommendations from WMPL.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Ok thank you.

There is 1 more string that I see is not translating.

“read more testimonials” from the testimonials widget on the homepage.
