Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer broke my website
This support request was posted in Smart by Tyler
I started using Smart recently and I really like it so far. Smart is easy to use and has most of the features that I need. I encountered a few issues with the theme that I’m hoping will be resolved soon. I installed Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer and it broke my website. I also noticed that the customize function does not work Every time I try to use the theme customizer I receive an error message that says: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 32 bytes) in /home/aieabowl2014/public_html/new/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 904. Are there some bugs that still need to be worked out? Please help me to resolve this issue.
Juanfra Aldasoro August 4, 2017 at 9:59 amHi,
Thanks for writing and thank you for your purchase.
I’m really happy that you are liking Smart so far đŸ™‚
With regards to the ultimate add-ons for visual composer, we used a tailored version of Visual Composer. Which means, that we have developed our own elements for the entire builder. The reason for doing this is that we’ve found that Visual Composer was bloating sites and at the same time didn’t have the necessary options for some elements in order to create super dynamic and flexible websites. Are you trying to install ultimate add-ons for some element in particular?
With regards to the customizer, would you please tell me the memory limit of your server listed on the System Status page? You can learn more about the system status page here: https://nicethemeswp.com/article/system-status/

Juan.Juanfra Aldasoro August 6, 2017 at 8:05 amHi,
Thank you for the follow-up.
I see. The recommended value is 256MB, is there any chance you can contact your hosting provider and try to increase that?
Or you can try to do it by following the steps described on this tutorial: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/fix-wordpress-memory-exhausted-error-increase-php-memory/
Best,
JuanI adjusted some of the settings but I wasn’t able to adjust the memory for some strange reason. The sidebar doesn’t work function. Could you help me with that?
Juanfra Aldasoro August 7, 2017 at 8:35 amHi Tyler,
Thanks for the follow-up.
Yes, for sure. I can help you with that. I’m not sure if I’m completely understanding your problem. Where’s that the sidebar doesn’t work? Would you please describe your issue and the situation in which is happening?
Thanks,
Juan.Juanfra Aldasoro August 10, 2017 at 7:15 amHi Tyler,
I hope you are doing well. So sorry for the delay. I’ve been checking your site yesterday and testing but it seems the reply didn’t post.
I’ve created a page on your site in order to test the sidebar and it is working http://www.aieabowl.com/new/this-is-a-test-page/
Please bear in mind that when you use the visual composer or any of the VC elements on one post, then the theme assumes that the post uses visual composer and the settings from the bottom do not take place because everything is overridden by the visual composer page.

Juan.Juanfra Aldasoro August 11, 2017 at 3:01 pmHi Tyler,
Thanks for the follow-up.
As I mentioned before, you are using the page builder to build your contact page, so the smart settings do not work for that page. When the visual builder is used to create a page or post, then it overrides the “Smart Settings” you see at the bottom.
Best,
Juan. It’s too bad that the sidebar is not compatible with visual composer. I noticed that the pattern overlay doesn’t work when I try to apply it to a row. Is that a feature that is not compatible with the theme?
Andrés Villarreal August 25, 2017 at 2:49 pmHi Tyler,
Currently, our implementation of Visual Composer doesn’t support the Pattern Overlay feature from Ultimate Addons. We’ll be taking a closer look to this issue but, in the meantime, maybe you can use our own overlay functionality, which allows you to select a background color and its opacity. You can find those options in Row Settings > Styles.
I hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.
Best,
Andrés.
I tried to use the overlay functionality in Row Settings but it doesn’t work.
Andrés Villarreal September 1, 2017 at 2:46 pmHi Tyler,
Thank you for the follow up.
Could you indicate in which page and row are you trying to use the background overlay feature? Keep in mind that, for elements such as sliders, which are displayed in front of the row background, you need to adjust the overlay from the settings of those sliders, and not from the row settings.
Best,
Andrés.
