Search function

Good evening,
I am trying to fix some things on my website, and I could not fix it, while I read several websites about my topic. I will note my questions below, and hopefully, you can help me!
First, I have some issues with getting the search function search in the right section of my website. I would like to search within my products, and not within my posts, is it possible to fix it? (so the searchfunction from your theme in the right above corner of the website will search within my products?
Secondly, I am using the WooCommerce plug-in that was recommended within the demo-site. Now, they only display all my products (still adding) on the homepage and on the shop page. I would like to create different places for different product categories. Is that possible within the plug-in? Again, I tried to search for relevant information to fix it, but I could not find it.
Moreover, the website is pretty slow, while I have shortened the URL’s and the image size. Could you recommend what I can do to increase page speed?
I am curious for your answers. I am trying to wrap my head around some things, but it is still hard to adjust some things. Hopefully you can help me out!
Yours sincerely,
Nick OkhuijsenJuanfra Aldasoro October 20, 2017 at 8:28 pmHi Nick,
I hope you are doing well. Thank you for writing.
The access details credentials you’ve shared with us doesn’t work, would you please send them in a private reply so I can take a look?
1) the search functionality is the WordPress native search functionality and by default, it searches posts. There are ways to modify the default search results to different custom post types like products. For example, you can check this thread on stack exchange: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/223576/changing-a-themes-search-function-to-only-show-results-from-woocommerce
2) The theme displays the products, by using WooCommerce functionalities. It also comes with some certain functionalities to do the same with the visual builder. The way you display the products has more to do with the way you would like to build your site.
With regards to speed:
For Smart, we recommend having all your options for Images, CSS and JavaScript turned on in Theme Settings > Performance.
For page cache, we recommend W3 Total Cache (https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/), since it’s been largely tested with our themes.
Whatever it is the plugin you’re using for page cache, we recommend turning off all its file minification options for HTML, CSS and JS, and use Autoptimize instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/. Here is a screenshot of our recommended configuration for Autoptimize: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l621ucr6mlpuepk/Screen%20Shot%202017-06-28%20at%2014.53.49-fullpage.png?dl=0&raw=1.
Also, you may want to take a look at this article about website performance and optimization: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wordpress-performance-speed/. It has a lot of useful information that can be relevant to your site.
One last thing: We would really appreciate if you could give us some information about your server setup, such as the name of your hosting provider and your current plan, so we can check if there’s some kind of limitation there that may be slowing down your site.
Best,

Thanks for the follow-up.
The new access details work.
1) With regards to the search form, you can add this code to change the default search form to make it search products: https://gist.github.com/juanfra/a0ea0243955e2cfd9730b4514fb2e6ea
2) Regarding how WooCommerce works and how to display the different categories you can read this article: https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/display-woocommerce-categories-subcategories-and-products-in-separate-lists–cms-25479
