Request ID #4492 Resolved
  • Hi guys,
I’m an happy owner of a “Paeon” template.
I would like to know how to change (read translate) the “read more” text.
I don’t know if I’m blind or but I think I didn’t find anything about that in theme options.

    Thank you very much

    Hi,

Thanks for writing and thanks for your purchase.

With regards to the translations, there are several ways to translate the theme. Personally, I like to use the program Poedit, you can get a copy over here: http://www.poedit.net/

First, download and install Poedit. Then, see that within the theme files there’s a folder named “lang”. Over there you can find the translatable files. So, for example, in order to translate the theme to “Swedish”, you’ll need to do the following:

    1. Open the file in Poedit.
On the left, there’s a box with the original message (in English) from the POT file. Beside that box is where you add your translation.
    2. Go to File → Save as… to save your translations in a PO file. (must be named sv_SE.po and sv_SE.mo)
    3. When you are finished translating, go to File → Save as… again to generate the MO file.

Finally, you need to be running your WordPress install in Swedish:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language#Swedish_-_Svenska_.28sv_SE.29

You can change Swedish, for any other language listed on the last link I’ve sent you.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi Juanfra,
and thanks for the very detailed answer. I was more oriented on an “hard code” translation since I never used Poedit. But it seems very powerful so definitely it worth a try.
Thanks again for the suggestion and I’ll let you know.

    Cheers

    Hi Italo,

No worries, I´m happy to help.

The problem with the hardcoded solution is that you’ll face a problem whenever you update the theme. Plus, you’ll need to revise a lot of files in order to check, where to change the desired string.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Yes Juanfra,
a lot of good arguments indeed. But I never faced Poedit and it looks great so far. This will solve me a lot of problems and perhaps will help me even more in the future.
So thanks again to let me discover this.
Welll there are other 2/3 things I still need to solve with the theme but I want to try some solutions/tricks before disturb you again.

    Have fun

Please, feel free to post any other topics on the forum if you need assistance.

    Be awesome,
    Juan.

    check this as solved 😛

    (thanks to poedit)
