Hi, we are trying to translate our site, and everything is working well except the home page options including (but not limited to) the “Welcome Message”, “Welcome Message (extended)”, “Services”, “Staff Title” etc…
Is there a way to get the theme to work with WPML for the home page?
Thank you for your help!!
Juanfra Aldasoro December 15, 2015 at 2:47 pmHi,
Thank you for writing.
Yes, those are options and in some versions of WPML were available for translations directly from the admin section. They now require to include a configuration file: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-to-translate-theme-options-values/
I’ve created a file for you to include in your /wp-content/themes/paeon/ folder. You can find it here: https://gist.github.com/juanfraa/d7924d26eab9d3508ed5
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Best,
Juan.lgtyler December 15, 2015 at 5:36 pmHi Juan, thank you for the quick response! With that file we managed to translate all strings on the homepage. There is one last issue though. On the home page the theme automatically imports some sections from the site – “Our Team” and “Services”. Currently it imports them only in English, even though they are translated.
Is there a good way to solve that?
Juanfra Aldasoro December 15, 2015 at 8:03 pmHi,
Thank you for the prompt response.
That has to do with how you configure WPML in your site. You need to go to “WPML > Translation Management > Multilingual content setup” and then look for the “Custom Post Type” section. There you can choose which content to be translatable or not.
Best,
Juan.
