There are NiceTheme updates that I need to make (Specifically Framework Version 1.1.1). I use Transmit as my FTP Client but I don’t know what to do to make this theme folder writable. Please help!
I’m hoping this update will also resolve the following issues:
1. Slides do not work (text slide-down)
2. The Menu Categories no longer appear in appearance menus.HELP!
Juanfra Aldasoro January 16, 2014 at 9:31 pmHello there,
Thanks for writing.
You can use the Update button on Nice Themes > Updates , to update the framework. You need to make the /bbq/engine/ folder writable. This is setting 777 permissions.
1. I went to your site and I could see the slides. (There are two: Dinner and Show, Dinning at Camber)
2. The menu categories never been in the Appearance menu. Would you please explain a bit more what is that you’re experiencing here? Thanks,
Juan.doralchan January 16, 2014 at 9:38 pmHi Juan! Thanks for the response. While the slides are there, the text for each slide is not sliding down as I had initially seen in the demo. Nor does the text appear in the mobile app. In terms of the menu categories, I’ve added Food Menu and Drink Menu and there are subcategories for that (i.e. Appetizers, Sides, etc). However, when I try to organize these in Appearance > Menu, the Food Menu and Drink Menu do not appear. I’d like to see these in the drop down menu from the navigation bar.
doralchan January 16, 2014 at 9:40 pmAlso, I was able to find “Update” in Nice Themes but my permissions are set to 777 but the clicking the “Update” does nothing. Can I do this manually? I’ll take the files and override them if you can send them to me.
Juanfra Aldasoro January 16, 2014 at 9:45 pmHi There,
Thanks for your prompt response.
I’m not sure if I’m getting you with the slides problem. The theme doesn’t come with any “Sliding Down” effect. Maybe that happens when the images are not loaded, and now that you have them in your cache, the sliding down is not taking place. Try clearing your cache.
With regards to the “Appearance > Menus” section, that has to do with WordPress. If you check that screen you’ll find a “Screen Options” button on the right top edge. Click that and you’ll have the chance to pick what kind of information you want to see on that page. It is the same across all the WordPress admin section 🙂
Finally, the Nice Framework issue. It is quite strange. What you can do is: re-download the theme (which always has the latest version of the framework), grab the /engine/ folder and replace the old files with the new ones.
Best,
Juan.
