Good morning, I am getting a HTTP error and have determined that the fault lies with the theme.
My host provider stated:
Please note that I have checked and I’ve noticed the error 500 when I’ve edited a page. The update is saved for your website but 500 error is reported due to the following problem with your theme:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function nice_theme_color_background_class() in /home/romanticgestures/russell-oliver.com/russell-oliver.com/wp-content/themes/smart/includes/plugin-integrations/visual-composer/templates/vc_row.php on line 58
Please understand that this is a theme error and you need to contact the developer of the theme and he can update the code or provide a new version so that you can use.
Can you please fix as this is a theme issue
Juanfra Aldasoro November 17, 2017 at 4:07 pmHi Russell,
Thank you for writing. I hope you are doing well.
We’ve been investigating the issue and it related to the usage of SEO by Yoast. We are currently working on a way for the theme and the popular plugin to coexist without any problem.
We’ll keep you updated on this.
Best,
Juan.Andrés Villarreal November 17, 2017 at 6:37 pmHi Russell,
We came up with a quick fix for this. Can you please add the following code to the theme’s functions.php file? You’ll find it in wp-content/themes/smart/functions.php.
We’re currently working on a more permanent fix for our next release, so once you update the theme you can remove that function safely.
Please let us know if this solves the issue for you.
Best,
Andrés.
Russell December 4, 2017 at 2:33 amTried this code and it updates fine but the front end of the site does not display.
Russell December 4, 2017 at 2:37 amHad to disable the code as it renders my site inoperable. this is not good. when is the next update?
Andrés Villarreal December 4, 2017 at 2:59 pmHi Russell,
Thanks for the follow up. Did you ignore the first line of the code we provided (the one with the opening “php” tag)? That code shouldn’t produce any blank page.
We still don’t have a date for the next update, but we’ll be happy to help you implement the fix in case you keep having issues with it. If you can create a new page for testing purposes, we could use it to check the fix for ourselves.
Best,
Andrés.
Russell January 19, 2018 at 9:48 pmyes the top part of the code was ignored, still wont work properly
Russell January 19, 2018 at 9:49 pmlooking forward to the updates as this 500 error is starting to affect all my pages.
Andrés Villarreal January 20, 2018 at 2:58 amHi Russell,
I just edited your functions.php file and added the previously provided fix to it, so you should stop seeing the error. Please let us know if everything looks fine for you.
Best,
Andrés.
