When I test the contact form, I fill it out and click “send message.” At the bottom, a line appears that says “thank you for sending us a message,” but then it doesn’t generate an email to the designated email address. How can I fix this?
Juanfra Aldasoro July 31, 2015 at 9:37 pmHello,
Thank you for writing. Do you know if your server has SMTP?
For the contact form to work ok you need the following:
A) Settings SMTP and smtp_port need to be set in your php.ini
B) Also, either set the sendmail_from setting in php.ini, or pass it as an additional header. These are server configuration issues, so maybe you can check this by contacting your hosting support.
Thank you,
Juan.dhperlmutter August 4, 2015 at 12:31 amI had a conversation with my hosting support, and they said that everything should be working from their end. The server has SMTP, and they said the following:
Generally the contact form that you are using will have a place to input
your SMTP settings. You will then input the settings that Mike gave you
in the previous email. It should ask you for 3 things:Email address:
Mail server:
Port numbers:I’ve now placed that information into the wordpress site, but the contact form still isn’t working.
Can you help?Juanfra Aldasoro August 4, 2015 at 2:13 pmHi,
Thanks for the follow up.
So, they provided to configure the SMTP? Where did you place the information?
You should try to configure it by using a plugin like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/
Best,
Juan.dhperlmutter August 5, 2015 at 1:21 amHey Juan,
I just tried entering that information into the SMTP plugin that you suggested. I tried to send a test email, but it didn’t work.
Thanks,
David
Juanfra Aldasoro August 5, 2015 at 8:41 pmHello David,
Thank you for the follow up. The email send is purely related to the server where the site is running and its configuration.
Would you please ask you hosting company for the error_log? Also, would you please send us your site access details to support@nicethemeswp.com?
Thank you,
Juan.dhperlmutter August 19, 2015 at 1:45 pmJuan, my hosting company logged into my site to make sure that all of the PHP settings are correct. I can send test emails from my wordpress site and i have the contact email address as the appropriate email address for the site.
When I enter a message in the Paeon contact form, though, nothing still happens. I’d like it to generate an email that gets sent to davidhperlmutter@perleyecenter.com
Thanks
Juanfra Aldasoro August 19, 2015 at 3:39 pmHello David,
Thanks for writing. I’ve just seen your email. We’ll look into it.
Were you able to get the error log?
Thank you,
Juan.Juanfra Aldasoro August 19, 2015 at 8:52 pmHello David,
I’ve tested the contact form in your site, with a gmail account and the contact email is getting there. I’ve sent you a reply to your email in order to check a couple of things.
Best,
Juan.dhperlmutter August 20, 2015 at 4:36 pmHi Juan,
How did you test it? If I send an email directly (not through the website) to davidhperlmutter@perleyecenter.com then it gets forwarded automatically to davidhperlmutter@gmail.com
If i fill out the contact form either on the side bar of the home page of my website or on the actual contact page and hit “send message,” then text appears saying “thank you for sending your message.” However, no email seems to get sent. I’ve checked my spam folder, and it is not being filtered into it.
I tried changing the contact form email address under Nice themes>contact information>contact form email address.
Thanks again for your help Juan,
David
Juanfra Aldasoro August 20, 2015 at 4:53 pmHi David,
Thanks for the follow up.
I went to the Theme Options panel, in the “Contact Information” tab I set my gmail account, and then tested the contact form. In a matter of seconds, I received the form results in my gmail inbox.
For the “Appointments” widget, you need to set the email address within the widget configuration.
Best,
Juan.dhperlmutter August 20, 2015 at 9:21 pmHi Juan,
I went into the contact information and tried a few different email addresses, and i also did it in the appointments widget. The contact form results still won’t show up at any of the email addresses that I’ve tried. I tried two that were gmail as well as a work email address.
I can’t figure out what is going on.
Thanks,
David
Juanfra Aldasoro August 21, 2015 at 3:43 pmHello David,
Thank you for the follow up. Have you checked the spam folder? The problem is with your emails, the contact form is working ok.
I’ve just re-rested both the appointments and contact form in your site and they both work.
Best,
Juan.dhperlmutter August 21, 2015 at 5:03 pmHey Juan,
I’ve tried entering four different emails now (yahoo, aol, and gmail) into the business contact information for the contact form, and I haven’t been able to make it work. I tried testing the contact form on three different browsers, but that didn’t change anything. There aren’t any emails in my spam folders that could’ve come from perleyecenter.com. Can you forward me the email that you’ve gotten when you tested the contact form?
Thanks,
David
dhperlmutter August 21, 2015 at 5:07 pmAlso, when you say that you “tested” it, do you mean under “settings>email” ?
When I send a test email under “settings>email”, it works to any of email address that I enter. However, when I actually go to my website and enter information into the appointments widget or the contact form, I’m not receiving the information in my inbox or in my spam folder
