Request ID #5051 Resolved
  • Hi,

    1) .has-slider #header>
    I may need to make header white/grey on all mobile and tablet devices (.has-slider #header). I am trying to change this from the style.css file but it doesn’t work.

    2) Services – home>
    How can I control what is being displayed on the home-services section?
    How can I reorder from the Admin section so that my client can chose easily?

    3) The flex-banner navigation (.flex-direction-nav) is off place, can’t see what’s wrong? Please advice.

    4) Opening Hours/footer > Is displaying 2 columns/rows per day. It looks different from your demo, please advice

    Kind regards,

    Sally

    Hi Sally,

    Thanks for writing.

    With regards to your questions:

    1) Unfortunately we can’t provide support on customisations. I’d recommend you to take a look at how mediaqueries work: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/07/19/how-to-use-css3-media-queries-to-create-a-mobile-version-of-your-website/

    For your case, I’ll look over the following mediaquery and put the styles you want inside of it:

    // iPad Landscape
    @media screen and (max-width: 1024px) {}

    And then, please take into account the recommendations we make regarding customising themes, we strongly recommend not to use the file style.css http://nicethemeswp.com/support/theme-docs/paeon/

    2) From the Theme Options panel, you can pick the order in which they are displayed. Please take a look at the Home Options section inside the Theme Options panel.

    3) I went to your site and the slider images are not loading, I couldn’t see the slider navigation bars.

    4) To set the Business hours: On the WordPress admin section, under the Nice Themes Options panel you’ll see that there’s a “Business Setup” tab ( on the left ).

    Once you click that tab, you’ll find different options for setting up your business information. Below the Phone Number field, you can find a multiple select field for each day of the week. These fields work in the following way:

    – If you’re on Windows, press control + click to select a range of time when your business is open.
    – If you’re on a Mac, press command + click to select a range of time when your business is open.

    By range of time I mean, the hours your business is open. For example, if your store/restaurant is opening from 9 to 5 on Mondays, you need to click on every item from the “Monday Opening Hours” field between 9:00 to 17:00 (If your business is closed in the middle, you can uncheck them and it’ll work).

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

    Thank you for your response.

    On question 3 about the slider navigation:
    I have disabled the child-theme, all the plugins and added one more slider image so that you can see how the flex-banner navigation is off place. I have also attached a screenshot that shows how the bottom of the banner area gets an extra-added white “margin or padding” below the image. This appears especially visible on the Chrome and Firefox browsers.

    On the customisation>
    I always create a child-theme with its own style.css to customise a theme. I have been through the Paeson Docs theme documentation, I can’t find anything related on how to customise (besides the custom.css and functions.php). Many theme authors make their themes “child-theme ready”. How do you recommend I should make changes to the template files?

    Social Media>
    The social media icons lack the “title” attribute, so that users can just hover over the icons and read “Facebook” if it’s the Facebook icon. Would you please advice what files I should change?

    Image size>
    What are the recommended dimensions for feature images; what size should I upload to the media library for it to resize the images properly / according to the default display settings (thumbnail, post etc)?

    Slider on mobiles>
    Is it possible to disable the slider from mobile devises so that it shows only a static image?

    Slider> The following line comment in your style.css: I don’t understand, please advice if I must do anything:

    /* No JavaScript Fallback */
    /* If you are not using another script, such as Modernizr, make sure you
    * include js that eliminates this class on page load */
    .no-js .slides > li:first-child {
    display: block;
    }

    Yoast WordPress SEO>
    I am considering installing the Yoast WP SEO plugin, do you know if it can interfere with Paeon? Anything I should think off that is special for the Peaon theme?

    Kind regards,

    Sally

    Hi Sally,

    No problem.

    Regarding #3 it might be related to some custom script. Did you add any custom css?

    You can change that by modifying the following class:

    .flex-direction-nav a:before {
    top:17%;
    }

    Child Themes
    We encourage users to customise their themes with child themes. We don’t have that in our documentation already because it is often complicated for regular users.

    Recommended image sizes

    Blog template: 480×480 or above.
    Slides 2560×1000 or above.
    Testimonials 200×200 or above.
    Blog posts: 730×338 or above.
    Staff: 480×480 or above.
    Services: 480×390 or above.

    Slider on mobiles
    Unfortunately that’s not possible with the theme as it is right now.

    Slider
    That’s a default style from the flexslider library (https://github.com/woothemes/FlexSlider).

    It means that the first slide should be displayed if there’s no js on the user browser.

    SEO Plugin
    There should be no problem with using that plugin.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

    Thank you for your response.

    The site is now live, although under “Maintenance” because the contact form doesn’t work.

    Here is the link http://www.theclearskinclinic.com.au/

    I would really appreciate if you could have a look a this. You may login with the same details I provided earlier.

    Many thanks!

    Sally

    Hi Sally,

    Thanks for your prompt response.

    I went through your website and the access details you have provided on this thread don’t work.

    When you say that the contact form doesn’t work, would you explain me what is happening?

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi again,

    Thanks again so much for getting back.

    Hm..how can send you the login details again without posting them here in the forum?

    What doesn’t work>
    When I test to send a comment or request via the contact form, we don’t receive these messages.

    I have added the email address to the Nice Themes Options > Contact Information tab.

    Kind regards,

    Sally

    Hi Sally,

    No problem.

    Well, you can send them to support@nicethemeswp.com

    When it comes to email problems, 99% of the times it has to do with server configuration and it is not theme related. For example: http://nicethemeswp.com/forums/topic/contact-form-is-not-working/

    Have you tested with that kind of plugins or asking your hosting about this?

    Best,
    Juan.
