Hi there,
We’ve been using your theme for over two years now and are very happy with how it’s been working. We have now decided to ‘go global’ and get our site translated into multiple languages, the first being German through WPML.
I’ve added the plugin however we’ve had a few issues which need resolving…I’ve been in contact with the WPML support forum who mentioned that the issue is with the theme, which is why I’m contacting you.If you look at my site, the German version works however there are a few sections that don’t translate and the Contact Us page seems to be missing…
Is there any chance you could have a look into this for me?Many thanks in advance,
Juanfra Aldasoro May 11, 2016 at 9:23 pmHi,
Thank you for writing and for your kind words.
Would you be so kind to tell me the specific strings that are not getting translated, and at the same time the theme version that you are currently using?
Thank you,
Juanprickly May 12, 2016 at 11:51 amHi Juan,
Okay so the first thing is that the menu items aren’t syncing correctly – it just hangs when I go to sync them so there’s definitely a conflict there. At the moment it’s just showing the ‘Kontact’ page and when I add new pages it refuses to add them.
Then my homepage has a number of elements which aren’t being translated – the Welcome message, titles to the various sections and the footer widgets…
Can you please advise?
ThanksJuanfra Aldasoro May 12, 2016 at 12:56 pmHi,
Thank you for the follow up.
And what version of the theme are you using? There shouldn’t be any problem with navigation menus, if there is some then it is not theme related but it has to do with the plugin. Our work as theme developers is to make all strings translatable and that’s what we do.
Please let me know what version of Paeon are you using so we can find the origin of your problem and get it solved. You can see in our changelog that for version 1.1.4 we have added a configuration file for WPML http://updates.nicethemeswp.com/themes/paeon/changelog.txt
Best,
Juan.prickly May 12, 2016 at 1:05 pmHi Juan,
Sorry – I didn’t include the Paeon theme version – it’s running on 1.1.3 (however it’s been messed around with by an external developer who added a number of additional elements (with a child theme) which I now need to find a work around.
I spoke to WPML (the plugin developers) who said:
There is a problem with your theme.
Can you check if it’s in our compatibility list? (It wasn’t)
You may contact the theme-author for assistance and mention our go-global program:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
It’s the main navigation menu which I’m having the issue with..
ThanksJuanfra Aldasoro May 12, 2016 at 2:05 pmHi,
Thank you for the follow up.
Well, you might want to update your theme to version 1.1.4 to have the changes we’ve done for WPML compatibility. If the developer was cautious about working in the child theme and not changing the theme files within the parent theme folder, then you shouldn’t be having any problem. Perhaps you can try in a local environment first before updating live?
Second, I have to disagree with the support technician at WPML. If our theme is not listed in their compatibility list is because we haven’t submitted it to their site, it is not related to being compatible or not. And if he haven’t seen our theme code he shouldn’t be able to say if we are compatible of not.
I will have to ask you one last favour in order to continue checking your site. Would you please set admin privileges to the user you’ve sent me? That way I’ll be able to see the WPML configuration.
Thank you,
Juanprickly May 12, 2016 at 6:27 pmHi Juan,
I’ve updated the theme to the latest version (1.1.5) and it’s still not working correctly. It’s still not letting me add new menu items (or letting me sync them with the English version) and now the ‘Services’ bit on the homepage lists all of them in a row rather than two lines as before. Also can’t see how to change the (homepage) titles or ‘Welcome message’. Haven’t looked at any other pages for errors yet (I’m too nervous!)
I have set your account to ‘Admin’ in users – please let me know how you get on!
Many thanks in advance 🙂Juanfra Aldasoro May 13, 2016 at 1:59 pmHi,
Thank you for the follow up.
I just went to your site admin and I was able and free to work with Navigation menus. https://cloudup.com/cXUcOw7i3y4
When creating the german menu, you have to click on the german page for them to be available: https://cloudup.com/cbaeBkp7tc6
But I insist, this has nothing to do with the theme, it is just how their plugin works.
Regarding the services listed on the home page, perhaps you have overriden a couple of modifications you’ve done to the original theme at the previous version?
With regards to the contact template, I’ve seen you are defining a new template in your child theme, and translating the strings there directly. That’s not the recommended way to transalte a theme. You should be able to translate the strings directly from a plugin like WPML or Loco Translate or using software like Poedit.
Our theme is translation ready so that’s the way you should do it.

Juan.prickly May 13, 2016 at 4:58 pmHi Juan,
I still can’t get the main menu (navigation) to add the German pages even by custom links. I can add to the footer menu (as you did in your last post) however not the main one. I can’t even add a new menu to use that – something isn’t working correctly and I need to establish if it’s the theme or the plugin.
Thanksprickly May 13, 2016 at 5:28 pmHi Juan,
It was the WPML plugin. I de-activated it and cleared all the menus and added a new menu completely. I then re-activated the plugin and with a bit of prodding and poking, I finally got it to work.
Just need to try and figure out why the ‘Services’ has gone weird now.
Thanks for all your help Juan – best support ever.Juanfra Aldasoro May 13, 2016 at 8:12 pmHi,
Thank you for the follow up. That’s great then, I was sure it was not a theme related issue.
With regards to the “Service” grid, how was it before? Like the demo?
Thank you for your kind words.

Juan.prickly May 22, 2016 at 1:15 pmHi Juan,
I’m still having issues with my homepage translations – the ‘Welcome message’ isn’t being translated and the titles to the ‘Services’ and ‘Blog’ pages is still in English…
Have you got any idea why these are being ignored? The rest of the site is fine!
ThanksJuanfra Aldasoro May 22, 2016 at 9:59 pmHi,
Thank you for writing. I hope you are doing well.
You need to enable option translations via the WPML configuration and you need to translate them over there. It is a WPML related issue.
You may want to contact WPML support on how to make their options translation work.
Best,
Juan.
