Problem: Mac Responsiveness on home slider.
Afternoon guys on the URL above I ran into issues with the home slider on our Mac Desktop. The slider loads and so does the text, however; when moving away from the slider(such as scrolling down) and then back to the slider, I noticed that the text is very very light so light that its barley legiable. This does not happen on PC so I assume its some small glitch, more like hoping its a quick fix. Please let me know what can be done!Juanfra Aldasoro June 24, 2015 at 12:57 amHi,
Thanks for writing. I hope you are doing well today.
The slider caption is meant to disappear as you scroll down. You can see the same results on the demo site.
Perhaps what is happening in your site is that the slider image is too tall and so the effect doesn’t look good. Have you tried uploading slider images that are bigger in size so they stretch to the default size?
Thank you,
Juan.Rostalker June 24, 2015 at 1:52 pmMorning Juannfra!!!
Well the slider caption for my PC it does the fine. But on Mac OS the fade effecting does not go away so if the user would slide back to the top the text is still barely visible! Is there anyway to fix that? Also what are the best LxWxH for images and best sizes for the slider so we can make them as close as perfect as possible!Juanfra Aldasoro June 24, 2015 at 2:56 pmGood morning!
Thanks for the follow up.
Well, then probably a fast solution for that would be modifying the main JavaScript file to avoid having the fade effect for the slider caption.
With regards to the dimensions, the minimum are:
– Slider 2560×1000
– Blog images 730×338
– Staff 480×468
– Services 480×390Best,
Juan.Rostalker June 24, 2015 at 3:02 pmAwsome Ty for the specs, and when it comes to the changes in the script, is there anyway to provide me with that, I am not really savvy with javascript as I should be! Thanks again!
Rostalker June 25, 2015 at 12:44 pmHey there was wondering if you got my last message? Wanted to make sure you guys did not forget about me!
Juanfra Aldasoro June 25, 2015 at 2:53 pmHey there,
Thanks for the follow up and sorry for the delay. We didn’t forget about you 🙂
With regards to the JavaScript, I’d recommend you to get this modified version: https://gist.github.com/juanfraa/a7b2da64d9dc51d34712
Save that as a javascript file named general.js and replace the one you have in your theme, which is located in the /includes/js/ folder.
Best,
Juan.Rostalker June 25, 2015 at 3:02 pmMorning Juan,
Thanks for not forgetting about me! haha and I will do the changes you have listed shortly. I also have a screenshot(not sure how to post it here) where it shows my menu items(also seen this happen on the footer menu) where the text for the item such as “gynecology” be labeled as “jwoelfd” or something along those lines. Not sure why it happens, sometimes refreshing it will remove the error or glitch, but its happening a lot and need that to not happen either! Thanks for the help!Juanfra Aldasoro June 25, 2015 at 3:06 pmHi,
Thanks for the follow up. Nice, let us know how it goes.
With regards to the labels, it sounds pretty strange. That doesn’t sound common and it should be related to the information you save for your navigation menu.
I visited your site and I see “gynecology”. I refreshed several times.
Best,
Juan.Rostalker June 25, 2015 at 3:06 pmYes Juan I know is there a way i can send you a screenshot maybe it will make more sense?
Rostalker June 25, 2015 at 3:43 pmJuan,
I ran into another problem with javascript, the file general.js does not already exist in the area u mentioned. Not sure if I should just drop the file in anyway or is it a problem that its not there?Rostalker June 25, 2015 at 3:46 pmI also made a discovery that all menu text items that get affected are all “custom links” from the menu options, I have used this option a few times b4 but never had this issue b4 with another theme, so maybe it doesn’t work so well? What do you suggest Juan?
Juanfra Aldasoro June 25, 2015 at 5:19 pmHi,
Yes the file is there, over /wp-content/themes/paeon/includes/js/ – Please check again.
With regards to the menu text, perhaps you can use a service like http://imgur.com/ to send me the screenshot. I don’t understand your problem there, but it doesn’t sound like a problem with the theme.
Best,
Juan.Rostalker June 25, 2015 at 5:22 pmYes I will check again Juan! And your probably right the fact that I am the only one who see it and my client has not chewed me out on it, either means I am very lucky that no one has noticed but me orrr that when signed into wordpress it only happens which seems to be the case so I don’t want to linger to much on that just yet no worries!
Juanfra Aldasoro June 25, 2015 at 5:26 pmPerfect.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Regards,
Juan.
