  • Is there a page template within the theme to have a page with a sidebar listing different topics so that each topic can be clicked and the visitor will be brought to the area of the same page where the relevant text is listed?

This seems like a very common feature of many webpages. I’m sure there’s an obvious term for this but I’m a newbie!

    Hello,

Thanks for writing. This was posted on the “General Support” forum. Would you please tell me what theme are you using?

Perhaps you mean the blog template? You can use the blog template for that, and each “topic” would be a “Post”.

    Best,
    Juan.

sorry about that. It’s for the Paeon theme. I see that there is a blog template and there is an area to go to posts. Can I name the sidebar something that I would like, such as “eye diseases” and have each post in the sidebar named with a different disease. When someone clicks on it, it brings them to that “post,” which sits on the left side of the screen, or they can scroll down to it.

Right now, there are tags, categories, comments, etc in the sidebar. I’m not sure which is the correct thing to use.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Thanks for the follow up. I’ve moved the topic to the “Paeon” forum.

Unfortunately the theme comes with only a sidebar for all posts. What you can do is trying a plugin like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/multiple-sidebars/

    Best,
    Juan.

Juan, thanks for your help, but despite hours of work, I’m still struggling with this. Maybe it would make more sense if I say it this way…..

I’m trying to put my menu into the left sidebar for a page. I created a second custom menu within the Paeon theme, but I would like it to show up in the left sidebar so that someone could navigate through the 7 or 8 pages for eye conditions on my site.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for the follow up. Well, to have the sidebar on the left side all you need to do is set the option within the options panel. Then, you can use the default page template, which includes content and a sidebar.

Once you have that, you can use a plugin to create as many sidebars as you want. You can also use the navigation menu widget to display any menu in your sidebar.

    Best,
    Juan.
