BBQ Demo setup… Hoped to have it look exactly like your PSD file

Hi Juan,
I have the BBQ Theme package and the Demo xml. I assumed that if I were to install the Theme, activate it, and then import the “bbq.wordpress.demo.xml” that this would generate something visually identical to the bbq.psd file in the theme or the demo, as seen at: http://themeforest.net/item/bbq-restaurant-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/3716749
Not sure if I have to actually go in and build pages (adding the responsive slider and the content blocks), I assumed they were baked in and I would only need to edit these within the admin panel. Please advise.
Juanfra Aldasoro February 27, 2015 at 1:27 pmHi,
Thanks for writing.
No, actually you need to do a couple of things after the import. If you check the page where the XML files are, you can see an explanation on how to make the site look like the demo site: http://nicethemeswp.com/theme-xml-demo-content/
After you are done with the import
You need to do a couple of things in order to get your site configured and looking like the demo site:
1. Set up the front page. http://nicethemeswp.com/article/setting-home-page/
2. Set up the widgets for the different widgetized spaces. http://nicethemeswp.com/article/using-wordpress-widgets/
3. Configure the navigation menu. http://nicethemeswp.com/article/setting-navigation-menu/
4. Save the theme options. In your site dashboard, go to NiceThemes > Theme Options and hit the Save button.Best,
Juan.jpazen February 28, 2015 at 1:49 amThanks, Juan.
I had done all of that but anticipated that there was dummy images with absolute references that would display the slider and the info boxes automatically. I finally saw what I was missing.
I apologize for making you re-list instructions that were on the forum, I whiffed. I would consider making mention of “To trigger the Responsive Slider, simple add an image in the “Slides” tab, and so on with Info Boxes and the Menu items.
One other question: is there an easy way to have the business hour widget to display “8PM” instead of “08PM”?
Juanfra Aldasoro February 28, 2015 at 2:43 pmNo problem. I’m here to help 🙂
Thanks for the follow up. Actually the XML file imports the Slides, Info Boxes and Menu items, that’ s why we haven’t included that.
With regards to the hours format, you can configure that from the theme options panel. Go to Theme Options > Business Setup and you’ll see a field named “Hours Setup”.
In there you can configure the hours format by using the formatting options with the php dates option http://php.net/manual/en/datetime.formats.date.php
Best,
Juan.jpazen March 1, 2015 at 4:36 amExactly, thanks. I had a feeling that it was a PHP formatting issues. The option provided with the demo appears to be ‘h:i A’, but all I needed was the very simple ‘g a’. So I’m set there.
