  • We updated to BBQ 1.1.6 recently. I noticed the option for sizing the height of the logo under settings. We left it at 175px which is the same size of our graphic. The website look OK.

HOWEVER, the mobile site the logo is now super tiny. Something must have changes in the way the logo is displayed from 1.1.5 to 1.1.6.

    Hi There,

Thanks for writing. For this new version we’ve added retina support for the theme.

Retina devices are those devices who have retina display. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retina_Display

To make images look good on retina devices (My intuition says you’ve tested the site on an iPhone), they need to be 2 times the original size. That’s why we’ve included a new option for the retina logo, and the logo height.

By default the regular logo is displaying in a dimension that looks good on retina devices. So, to solve this you can upload the retina logo.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

Our original image is 700 x 700. I resized that to 175 x 175 for the mac/pc (desktop) display logo and uploaded. All looked great in 1.1.5.

I took your advice above and uploaded a 350 x 350 version as the Retina version. I made sure the size slider was set to 175px.

    Two things I noticed:

    1) The iPhone display didn’t look any different. Logo still very small now in 1.1.5.
    2) With the Retina logo version uploaded, the edges were rough and jagged due to scaling that is happening to meet the 175px that’s set by the slider.

For now, I removed the Retina logo and left the slider at 175px. Now, the logo looks fine again on Desktop/Mac.

Regardless of having a Retina logo uploaded, the size was always incorrect on the iPhone now w/ 1.1.6

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Please check that you’re choosing the 350x361px version when setting up the retina logo.

When you upload the logo, or any image, in WordPress, different sizes are created. When you upload the logo, then, you can pick what size to insert. Please make sure that you insert the “Full Size” option. Else, you’ll be picking the same image but in another size.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

I did in fact verify that’s the in case. Actually, I went as far as to remove all of them and re-upload one-by-one and re-test on each device as I went along. Very strange.

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Hello Jim,

I can see what I tell you in the code, you’re inserting the same image in both the logo field and the retina logo field.

When you click the “Upload” button, and the image is uploaded you can select the size of the picture before clicking the “Instert into post” button.

    Please re-review that.

    Juan.
