Hi there,
this happened with my clients website a few months ago and I have tried everything, I cannot fix it. I do not know what is wrong with it but any time we try to make any changes to the theme, we are not able to. It gives an error message which says the following:
Request-URI Too Long
The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.
Apache/2.4.23 (Unix) Server at mv0.web225.extendcp.co.uk Port 80I contacted my service provider as it seemed like a server issue, but they said that this is a theme issue. I run this theme on another website and it works fine. Any advice on how to fix this would be amazing.
Thank you very much.

Juanfra Aldasoro May 5, 2017 at 2:45 pmHi Nerissa,
Thank you for writing.
When is that happening exactly? When editing the theme via “Appearance > Editor”?
Your assumption was right, it has to do specifically with server configuration. The limit values can be edited, and your hosting provider should be able to do that:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/core.html#limitrequestline
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/core.html#limitrequestfieldsizeIf this error happens when you try to edit the theme files via “Appearance > Editor” then it is not related to the theme, but WordPress as a platform. If you can describe me how/when is that you are getting that error, it will be more than helpful to determine how to solve it.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply. So when I am in the admin panel and go to NiceThemes/Theme Options and try to make any changes within that, then save the changes, it will not allow me to do so. It gives that error message.
If its a WordPress issue, do I need to reload everything, reinstall WordPress and the whole theme? Do you think that would help?
Thanks
Nerissa
Juanfra Aldasoro May 5, 2017 at 3:43 pmHi Nerissa,
Thank you for the follow-up.
The problem with that page is that is having a JavaScript warning and as a result, the form is not being processed via AJAX. This makes the form to submit via URL and it creates a very long URL.
So, the only way to solve this is by fixing the JS error. Would you please try getting the latest version of the theme, then going to your site and erasing the /paeon/engine/ and uploading the folder /paeon/engine/ folder from the newly downloaded version?

Thanks for your help on this. I have installed the latest version of the theme which i downloaded from Themeforest, in my downloads section. Uploaded to the server and re copied the engine files too.
I tried to do a change from within the theme options but its still giving the same error. Not sure what to do.
Thanks,
Nerissa
Juanfra Aldasoro May 15, 2017 at 4:04 pmHi Nerissa,
Thanks for the follow-up.
You did that via FTP, right? By any chance, you checked that the files were uploaded successfully?
Also, I can see that you have a lot of plugins that may be causing some type of JavaScript errors. Have you tried deactivating them and checking if the Theme Options are saved correctly?

Thanks for the follow-up.
I am sorry but that’s a server issue and it is not related to the theme. Perhaps you can speak to your hosting provider and if you get the same result as last time I’d consider switching the provider.
Best,
Juan.
