Well, that’s WordPress territory, as the query is automatically generated. The only option to change that would be creating a hook in order to alter the main query, depending on the custom taxonomy (article category). There are other developers looking to make something similar here: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/90220/include-and-exclude-taxonomies-from-archives-feeds-using-pre-get-posts
